blrsri - 1-FEB-2009

Image003Its slowly taking over all roads in Bangalore and this needs to be stopped immediately. In the name of BTRAC they are laying these road dividers which I am sure in not in any of the road design books.

The joys of crossing a road

silkboard - 13-JAN-2009

ORR KR Puram 4The pedestrian chaos at ORR-Old Madras Road interchange can'tt be stated in words, so I tried this video last week (find it below). The place is a live example of collaboration, lack of it rather, between multiple sarkaari bodies. Bring this up with a babu in Bangalore and instead of ideas or initiatives, you will get stories of how things can only fall between NHAI, Railways, BDA, and the Traffic Police but not improve. Oh yeah, the job of taking initiatives is best left to the citizens.

Train to Airport over High Speed - Prof Sreehari's points

silkboard - 8-JAN-2009

Proposed BIAL station

Continuing on the proposals to start Trains to BIA on South Western Railway's tracks, some of us got a note from Prof Sreehari where he is arguing for investment on this Railway system (CRS) over the proposed High Speed Rail Link (HSRL). News reports have suggested that HSRL is almost dead. The current action on CRS is likely a related event. Here is the note from Prof Sreehari (see below) with some details:

Missing the bus

SB_YPR - 2-JAN-2009

Hi, Warm greetings to all of you for the new year. I have been reading the posts on this forum for a while now, and today I decided to take the plunge myself.
The BMRC has been hyping on integration with other modes of transport right from the beginning. Sadly, they have overlooked two crucial spots where integration would have been of great help, on the East-West corridor.

Mysore Bangalore Rail Double line Project

E.R. Ramachandran - 8-DEC-2008

Whatever happened to the gallopping project of Double line between Bangalore and Mysore? The latest roadblock is the monument concerning Tippusultan Gun carriage which is rumoured to come very close to the tracks and hence the doubling rail track goes back to the back burner or freezer if you ask me!

Footpaths upgraded but width reduced

Photoyogi - 18-NOV-2008

I live in Kumarapark (BBMP Ward No 77) and i was initially pleased to see the footpaths getting a face lift. Yes Serpentine road is having spanking new machine finished granite slabs to cover the drain and make for the footpath.

Sanity Check: A Namma Metro link to Bengaluru International Airport

Devesh - 17-NOV-2008

About 40 days ago, I had raised the issue of a "Sanity Check" on the proposed High Speed Rail Link (HSRL) to Bengaluru International Airport. The issues I raised were :

  • Sanity Check 1: Who is the target customer of the HSRL ?
  • Sanity Check 2: Convenience
  • Sanity Check 3: Close integration with Namma Metro and BMTC
  • Sanity Check 4: Affordability
  • Sanity Check 5: Financial Viability

Cycling in Bangalore!!

raviranjan.kumar - 15-NOV-2008

How many of you believe that
1. Cycle is a sustainable mode of transportation?
2. Cycling in Bangalore is possible?
3. You are faster on you cycle than you car in Bangalore?

Let me share my view on these :
