A detailed project report for Pune Metro should be due out anytime now. Newspaper reports back in Aug had said the DPR should be out in a month. Not sure if it is out yet. Back on early 2007, Delhi Metro had floated several tenders for detailed project report (DPR) of Pune Metro.

Solar rickshaws

Solar-powered rickshaws called green rickshaws were introduced in Chandni Chowk here on Thursday as part of a pilot project. Each of these rickshaws costs about Rs.17,000 and the idea is to have them in place of the man-pulled rickshaws.

So, will BMTC do one of this?

I was waiting for one of these two to happen. What if:

  1. BMTC bids to operate buses in liberalized UP transport sector?
  2. BMRC (Bangalore Metro) orders its own fleet of buses to make sure it gets good numbers to reliably reach all their stations?

Satellite Bus Stands - Will they reduce traffic?

Most of the traffic planners say to start the satellite bus stands to reduce the city traffic. Recently KSRTC Minister Mr.Ashok announced many satellite bus stands and even in Mysore where the traffic is quite normal in the range of 300+ crores. Will they really serve the purpose?

The Karnataka state government is tripping over itself trying to expedite the High Speed Rail Link (HSRL) to the new Bengaluru International Airport (BIA), conservatively expected to cost Rs. 5,200 - Rs. 5,700 Crore by completion date, somewhere by 2012.
