Kind of tired now of reading once-in-a-while-news-updates on NICE vs State of Karnataka case in Supreme Court. Also tired of seeing blatant self-promotion (misuse? illegal?) by Mr Ashok Kheny on his state-given PPP land. But more than that, why are the tolls so high on the NICE peripheral road? |

I was recently driving on the NICE Road between PES College to Somapura Intersection. My car was the only car and I was cruising at around 90kph. While I was nearing the intersection climbing an uphill unable to see what is there on the otherside of the road after it flattens, suddenly I saw 6-7 people standing in the middle of the road which they are not supposed to be since it is a freeway. |

There was a recent comparison of the UP state Yamuna expressway and BMIC by the editor of Vijaya Karnataka news paper.. This by-far looks a neutral review/comparison of the projects. The salient points are as below:

BMIC: dont need approval, wont pay fees tsubba - 1-FEB-2010
The Department of Law, GoK, had remained silent for 4 years. It now has advised BMICAPA that the BMIC project needs its approval and must pay betterment fees. As thing stand BMIC has neither sought approval nor has paid any fees, which run into "hundreds of crores". So what exactly is BMIC willing to do?

NICE Expressway toll and receipt, taxes? silkboard - 16-SEP-2009
Wanted to share an observation. Usually, on getting a receipt, I take a quick glance to see if it is "proper". I am told a proper one is supposed to have a number, date, and tax id number of the business that is issuing it. |

Better toll collection method - BMIC Peripheral Road s_yajaman - 6-FEB-2009
Here is a suggestion for Mr.Kheny on toll collection on the BMIC Peripheral Road. His current method can be improved quite a bit to ensure that the main expressway has free moving traffic (this is an access controlled Expressway and ought to be signal free). |
