Building Use - Bank of Baroda breaks all laws in Bangalore

Sups.Adi - 4-MAY-2013

We all love our “native”. As we are ravaged by urbanisation, for many of us, our originial homes dont feel like homes any longer. This post is about the case of the home of Old Bangaloreans – Basavanagudi.

More roads for decongestion !!!

idontspam - 9-JAN-2013

"Over the next five years approximately Rs 55,000 crore will have to be spent in building flyovers and other arterial link roads in order to decongest the traffic in the city by 50%," said R Nagaraj, president of CREDAI's Bangalore chapter.

BBMP (and BTP) and inclusive development

s_yajaman - 22-JUN-2012

One look at the typical projects happening in Bangalore and it is quite clear that for the BBMP the city is a thoroughfare meant to enable cars to zip across the city with minimal inconvenience.  There always seems to be enough funds for flyovers, underpasses, road widening and asphalting.

murali772 - 19-JUN-2012

The following is the request sent out by the Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF) to all Civil Society and RWA groups, across the city, with their having taken the initiative to set up a dialogue with the BDA and other government agencies involved in the process of forming the Comprehensive Development Plan (now termed CDP-2035) for the city.

Adarsha Society at Mumbai, Why not Mantri Mall as well?

Sanjeev - 4-NOV-2010

Mantri Mall builder violated building by-laws’Mantri Mall builder violated building by-laws’

the builder should have left at least 10 per cent of the total land for gardens as per the terms and conditions. Besides, a 16-metre space should have been left in front of the building as per the sanctioned plan, but it has left merely 8-metres space.

BDA dear, where is all the GIS/map data on Bangalore?

silkboard - 8-AUG-2010

It is frustrating, as well as shameful. For any thinking, planning, discussions, whether for us citizens, or the government, one basic thing needed in public domain is a map. Not talking a simple map, but something that shows boundaries and jurisdictions of local govenrments, and also its assets (fire stations, water pumping stations, police stations, roads, rails, parks, lakes etc etc).

Bangalore Master Plan 2015 - Where is this headed?

deepak_here - 31-MAR-2010

I have read the Bangalore Master Plan 2015 for the first time.

I am happy to see the recommendations made after a structured study. ( Though I would have expected this to have more meat)

Mixed use misuse

idontspam - 12-MAY-2009

Take for example Kanakapura Road...Now suppose I want to cross the road at Yelachenahalli.

This is the whole crux of urban planning.

Open Space Bonus for Bengaluru City

silkboard - 19-JAN-2009

Open Space BonusWhen there is little "free" land available in Bangalore urban and peripheral areas, how do you encourage creation of public space? Large parks and lung spaces is one thing, 'small' public spaces another. Think a little extra width for pedestrians. Think extra bus bays on private spaces. May be some lawn space and plazas along the high density roads to reduce the action on the shores of the "corridors".

Urban and Real Estate Chaos - New urban policy on the anvil

mcadambi - 1-NOV-2008

We all know how chaotic the real estate scence is in Bangalore. Nearly 99% of all buildings have some violations of some sort. Some are totally gross blatant disregard for the law and while others happily add extra floors and compromise on setback area and parking areas.
