LEDs on Vehicles - Regulations = better safety for all? xs400 - 29-JUL-2013
With LEDs becoming cheaper, many have started fitting LEDs to vehicles as decorations. If fitted with care and some common sense they can look attractive and improve the vehicle's visibility. The problem starts with people using random colors and placing them on random parts of the vehicle. I saw a taxi cab with flashing blue and red LEDs on the windscreen. |

Amendment of MV act to increase fines blrpraj - 27-MAR-2009
I saw on TOI today about a proposal to amend the MV act to increase traffic violation fines. |
Who can legislate to increase fines? mcadambi - 10-SEP-2008It is a well known fact as even Mr Praveen Sood iterates that the local police, i.e Bangalore City Police do not have powers to fine traffic offences. It is still dictated by the Central Motor Vehicles Act. Even the Chief Minister of Karnataka does not have such legislative powers. Only the Union Minister and the Minister of State, Shri T R Baalu and Shri K H Muniyappa have powers to table an amendment in the Central Motor Vehicles Act. I doubt they can do it within this session of parliament, but IMO, we need to create a momentum in order to have the CMV amended. |
Kannada license plate numbers on the increase? s_yajaman - 12-APR-2008
I am sure I will get my fair share of brickbats for this one but here goes... Of late I have seen an increase in the number of vehicles with Kannada number plates. This is illegal per the provision of rule-50, sub-rule-2 and proviso-D of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, which specifically states that letters on vehicle number plate should be in English and numerals in Arabic. The Government of India in a notification (No.SO. 444E dated June 12, 1989) issued under Section-41 (6) of the Motor Vehicle Act , 1988, also made these rules mandatory. |
