Namma Metro refreshingly different ?

Bengloorappa - 18-MAY-2011

Just happened to see the inner view of MG Road station in the BMRCL newsletter. (I cannot paste a link to it so have to embed it. Image Courtesy: BMRCL).

It looks refreshingly devoid of commercial jazz and has a soothing feeling to it compared to other Metro railways all over the world.

Mr. Praveen Sood, The unwritten stops at start and end of flyovers - why? - Specially the Domlur flyover

dvsquare - 12-JAN-2011

I have taken 2 snaps below - one at the Domlur flyover and another of Jayadeva Flyover. These photos clearly show why there are jams before and after the flyover.

Delhi/Mumbai get wider spans...not Blr why?

srinidhi - 19-MAY-2010

To expedite the process and make it more cost effective, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is making use of gigantic 25 metre-long girders to join spans on elevated stretch of the section.

‘‘The cost of construction with the existing 3-meter spans works out to Rs 24 crore per km, while the 25-meter ones cost Rs 19 crore per km. So using the bigger spans will result in a saving of nearly Rs 5 crore per km,’’ said a DMRC official.

It  looks like this..

The bigger spans work out to be more economical and also speed up pace of the construction. Officials said it takes about a week to join the space between two pillars using segmental construction while the bigger spans can be put in place in just one day.

Fool proof Design and execution of city projects or only Co ordinate and still goof up

psaram42 - 27-NOV-2009

ORR/OMR - Extra loop at K R Puram

idontspam - 8-NOV-2009

Here is the plan BDA is going ahead with for this stretch. Anybody know what loop this is? Any idea what the improvement is?

Rs 15 crore for the construction of additional loop and improvement of junction at K R Puram flyover

Poor design of flyovers lead us nowhere in solving traffic problems

Vasanth - 29-OCT-2009

All over Bangalore, there is a galore of small small flyovers and now underpasses. But, none of them are constructed with thorough thought process and planning behind it. Usual mode of construction of flyover is to have 4 exit ramps and 4 entry ramps in semicircles like we have seen in foreign countries as well as in our NICE Somapura road junction.
