Bellandur lake revival!! Who killed it in the first place?

When Sunita Rao called me yesterday evening, about Bellandur Lake, we talked about diverting the storm water drain sewage water being discharged into the Lake. I must admit of my folly. The basic question is why is the sewage water flowing in the Storm water Drain in the first place?!!!! The reason is obvious!

The stretch of NH4 running along St Johns Church, Kensington, and Bhaskaran roads joining old Madras road is an interesting stretch to ride. It is a pretty road with constant two way traffic.

Slow and dangerous sewage work @ cluny convent road Malleswaram

I wanted to bring this to the notice of authorities on state of the sewage work being done at 11th Main road, malleswaram, outside the cluny convent, malleswaram, bangalore. I have attached certain photos for you to have a look and publish so that reaccurance of Sanjay Nagar Underpass kind of accident doens't happen again.

The way the BWSSB, in the absence of BBMP elected mayor and his team, is going ahead with its job of planning and maintaining the city infrastructure is not acceptable. Reference is made to the earlier two threads on the subject on SWD. 

Roads over drains - The erstwhile "Club Pyramid" project

According to this report in DH, two elevated roads are being planned over SWDs :

1) Seshadripuram to Double Road; &

2) Rajajinagar to Mysore Road.

Storm Water Drains - planning aspects

Friends, To the best of my knowledge, the storm water drains presently in vogue in Bangalore (and I guess in most other Indian cities) is built on the lines of that existed in Roman cities 2000 years back. 

Half hearted storm water drain cleaning in Bellandur ?

Recently the BBMP has taken up storm water drain cleaning in preparation for the monsoon. However it seems like they are going a half hearted job. A strech of drain has been cleaned on Bellandur Outer Ring Road and the silt has been left right besides the drain. Over the next week we will track to see if BBMP clears up the dumped silt.
