Single Emergency Response Number for Bengaluru/Karnataka

kbsyed61 - 9-JAN-2012

We do have phone numbers to dial in case of emergency. But there are many problems with them. There are a bunch of numbers and not just one. 100, 101, 103, 8 digit numbers on national highways, a separate number on NICE Road, and even more. Next, numbers like 100 don't reliably work from cell phones.

Inputs to proposed Fire Safety Legislation

deepakar - 22-JUN-2010

I'm posting this on behalf of Vivek Reddy of the BJP Legislative cell. Vivek is gathering inputs for a reform to the current Fire-safety laws and their enforcement. He was keen on getting inputs from Praja too. I had referred the following two threads to him.

http://praja.in/en/projects/2010/03/12/fire-safety-project-bring-awareness-and-seriousness

http://praja.in/en/blog/ravi-d/2010/02/24/what-can-we-learn

Further inputs will be appreciated

* Who are the local experts on the area that could contribute to this activity?

* Are you aware of some measures and best-practices adopted successfully in other countries?

* Anyone who has knowledge of the law and can critique the current legislation?

Sakrama scheme

bikram satpathi - 27-MAR-2010

SAKRAMA SCHEME WILL COME IN NEXT 10 DAYS OR 4 YRS.  Ten days since govt needs money. Four yrs since their will be objections (Carlton Fire Bangalore / Park Street fire Kolkata). But you cant just wish it away. Unauthorised Bldgs are there for ages. Penalising BBMP is not a possibility. More practical sol would be to read  Bldg Bye laws , chapter on Fire Safety. Let the users of the bldg be aware of the issue.  Any better suggestions .. Courts maybe...
