Rail projects on track: Muniyappa : Complaints to MoS Shri K H Muniyappa on Hubli Railway Workshop On complaints about decreasing work load at the Hubli workshop and reports of closing it down, General Manager of South-Western Railway Kuldeep Chaturvedi termed the reports as false and said that upgrade of the workshop was under way and once completed there would be enough work for all. http://www.thehindu.com/2010/03/28/stories/2010032855710600.htm Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa said that most of the announced projects for Karnataka in the Railway Budget would start soon and that survey for them would begin shortly. |

Commissioning of Doubling Track between Dharwad Mugad Sanjeev - 18-MAR-2010
SWR has given press notice that on 18.03.2010 will conduct the speed trial on Dharwad to Mugad ( 14 Kms ) on newly laid double line. Now We have double line laid recently between Hubli to Hebsur 19 Kms towards Gadag & Arsikere and Devanur (14 km). With this Dharwad to Kambargavi ( 20 Kms ) Yesvanthpur to Londa has got further boost on double track slowly. We have double track from Hubli junction upto Hubli South Station ( 6 Kms ) towards Kundagol Now Hubli-Dharwad twin city can have local trains with DEMU trains running on the double track. Train can run between Dharwad ( from Karnataka University ) upto Gadag or Kundagol with so many station on the way, many educational colleges & major Hospitals. SWR should start working on starting local train. |

Modernised Hubli Railway Station & Local Train Sanjeev - 5-FEB-2010
DRM of Hubli Division of SWR Mr Adesh Sharma informed that new Building of Hubli station will be ready by this year end. It will have 6 platforms with sub way connecting all platforms with Escalators. Bus shelter will be made at the entrance of Sub Way. .Cost of this upgradation is Rs 12 Crore. |

It is the season of big plans, UP has announced a staggering 1000kms of 8 lanes expressway running the entire length of the state from east to west. Not to be outdone, inspired by a CII proposal for a Mumbai-Bangalore-Chennai high speed freight corridor, the KA state government has tossed in the idea for a high speed passenger corridor in KA, that'll do Bangalore-Hubli in 2 hours, Bangalore-Mysore in 40 minutes. This, apparently, is the "Just In Time" concept to de-congest Bangalore. |
