I came across a news item in the DECCAN HERALD dated February 13, 2011 regarding benefits that are due by law to construction workers and which do not require any expenditure  on the part of the contractor or agency.

In fact, it is a win win situation for both the construction worker and the contractor

Namma Metro - Whose responsibility to look after the workers who build it?

If CM is to be believed, Namma Metro will start chugging on Phase-1 route very soon. Der Aye Durust aye (Better late than never). WE all are witness to the making of Metro in B'lore. We all saw how the construction progressed. Even we made noises when trees were cut to make the way for Metro line. I believe this is price we might have to pay for growth and newer development needs.

What a contrast? Where we all are going gaga over how India has progressed since 1990's economic liberlization. Yes indeed we have moved on and made progress. But still there is large chunk of population that is still to get its due opportunity of decent life.
