Have been reading up on Metro's Phase 2A and Phase 3 plans and few thoughts cross my mind.

Confederation of Indian Industries [CII] conference at Lalith Ashok

psaram42 - 19-DEC-2012

The day long conference started with the welcome address by Mr. L Krishnan, Chairman CII Karnataka State Council. The irony of rapid urbanization according to him was that we expect different results with identical actions. The vehicles to people ratio has increased rapidly which is holding the environment to ransom. Some disturbing news does make us sit up and think.

BMRDA - dead, defunct, or dormant?

silkboard - 18-OCT-2012

No news is good news is how some say it. Hope it applies to BMRDA as well. Do a news search on BMRDA, you see nothing. The only thing new on their website recently is a list of "un-authorized approved" layouts. Wonder what that means, approved, but not authorized, hmm.

Shaping Bangalore's periphery - before its too late

silkboard - 20-NOV-2011

Our city, Bengaluru has a core, and periphery. Let us define the area bound between  Outer Ring Road as the core, and beyond as periphery. If you look back from nineties onwards, City planners cared for people to live in the core, and work in the periphery.

New Bangalore coming up at Bidadi - how and when?

silkboard - 9-AUG-2011

Back in Mr Sudhir Krishna's days, there used to be a buzz about BMRDA. Remember the talk of satellite towns, satellite town ring roads, and the 7 'proposed' satellite townships. Part of the buzz is back with Bidadi integrated township project. Mind you, its a PPP to develop a 9000+ acre township.

Namma Railu Effect - New Delhi to have trains connecting nearby towns!

kbsyed61 - 29-JUN-2011

If "Rediff" news items is to be believed, New Delhi will soon have "High Speed" A/C trains connecting Delhi and nearby towns. Every aspect of this proposal is what PRAJA's Namma Railu campaign has been so far.

Moving the capital out of Bangalore

ashwin - 2-JAN-2009

This is an idea that has been discussed before, including on this forum. I am coming from the view not of the governance structure of Bangalore (autonomy etc) which is an orthogonal issue, but of the power of such a move to take the pressure off Bangalore.

Tumkur as satellite for Bangalore?

Vasanth - 20-AUG-2008

Tumkur, so close to Bangalore - Just 55 minutes to 1 hour in Non-Stop Train, 1.5 hours by road (delay mainly due to Traffic) is highly under-utilized. Bangalore is growing like anything and the existing space is not sufficient. Tumkur can be well utilized as a satellite city.

Why is Bangalore growing towards Hosur - a city belonging to neighbouring state and why not towards our own city Tumkur? Townships as well as IT companies can be planned between Bangalore and Tumkur in areas that are close both to railway track and the bus route.
