With and Without ticket travel experiences in BMTC

Vasanth - 7-MAY-2013

I daily travel a distance of around 2 kms by BMTC bus to catch my office shuttle from Janatha Bazar Katriguppe to Devegowda Petrol Bunk. I earlier used to wait and catch Volvo since it was Rs. 10 and now Rs. 15 for mere 2 kms. I sometime do 'Auto Pool' if I get one of my colleague which costs only 20 for 2, otherwise take our good old 'Parisara Vahini'.

Chengddu makes bus travel free, BMTC costlier than two wheelers!

tellvkb - 11-OCT-2012

Our BMTC costlier than 2 -wheelar and cars....

Can we propose to have ticket rates as 5,10,15,20,25 to avoid change problem and corruption ?

Like 5Rs for first 3 stage, then 10 for 4-8, 15 for 9-13, 20 for 14-18 and so on......

The 1 Rupee Dilemma

rahulganesh - 18-SEP-2012

The 1 Rupee Dilemma is how i would call it.

The board a Bus from Jeevanahalli to Shivajinagar on a regular basis. The cost of the Bus ticket is Rs 9.

Bus fare more expensive than driving car...!!

dnivra - 30-JUL-2012

This is an issue that I have been pursuing for more than a year now. Last November, the Chief Minister's office was kind enough to take note and forward it to MD of BMTC... and the wait continues!

Hence, taking this to the public domain...

Corrupt Checkers in BMTC buses

Anithasunil - 12-JAN-2011

I was travelling by a bmtc bus today morning, and was witness to some harassment & corruption!

I got onto a 304 from KRPuram, to go towards Hoodi around 7.30AM. The bus number was KA01 FA 831. Half way through, ticket checkers got into the bus.

Conductors of BMTC reusing already sold or old tickets.

Akshara - 7-JUL-2010

I happen to take the BMTC bus everyday to my office, however recently i encountered a situation where the conductor handed out a used ticket to me instead of tearing a new ticket from the foil. By the look of the ticket even a lame man could say that its an old ticket with traces of sand and dirt and torn edges. When i questioned him about the issue of old ticket he refused to accept his mistake and said it to be a freshly torn ticket. I was so helpless and did not get support from any of the so-passengers and had to return with the same ticket. This has not happened only to me and when discussed with some of my friends, they also complained of having faced the same issue earlier.

These conductors are not only causing a loss to the BMTC but also to the passengers, the situation is worse when some illiterates or school children alight the buses, many a times the conductors take the money and not issue the ticket for short distances thus pocketing the extra money into their personal account which actually belongs to the BMTC.

This could rather be called a daylight theft.

Some authority needs to look into this and get this right immediately...

Corruption in the BMTC - Tickets

Supraja - 7-JUL-2010

Tickets not issued in BMTC buses -  The conductor asks commuters to opt for ticketless travel, by paying an amount lesser than the ticket value. Surprisingly, this is a regular practice.

BMTC Drivers issuing used tickets

aghose - 30-OCT-2009

Many BMTC Drivers and conductors (Mainly ordinary, pushpak and suvarna) are issuing used tickets. It works like this: I buy a ticket for say 30 Rs. Say I do not have change and I hand over Rs. 100 to the conductor/driver then he writes at the top on the back side of one ticket the amount he has to return me back (Rs 70).
