solving silkboard conundrum

srinidhi - 13-JAN-2017

Silkboard junction has been identified as one of the worst traffic prone junctions in the whole of India!!

So what does the govt do to handle it..they come up with an humungous plan to 'de-clutter' the junction with a maze of flyovers..

Devegowda Petrol Bunk Flyover - Another Silkboard in the making ?

Vasanth - 31-JUL-2015

A new flyover is being constructed at the Devegowda Petrol Bunk on the Outer Ring Road from Banagiri side to Kadirenahalli. Again, very poor planning just like many waste flyovers of Bangalore especially Silkboard. This is just similar to Silkboard addressing only 2 out of 12 combinations.

faiqg - 13-JAN-2013

The Veeranna Palya flyover is now functioning for few months now. But for the commuters going towards Hebbal, getting on to the flyover during morning office hours, remains a challenge. The office goers to Manyata Tech Park, coming from Hennur junction are not allowed to get on the service road t the right hand side.

Naveen, SB & I decided at short notice to take a walk around the Domlur IRR/OAR (Old airport road) interchange to see the pedestrian issues in that area. I am attaching the route we too walking all around. Some points that showed up

1. Bus stop towards the city on OAR spills onto the ramp. Bus stop towards marathahalli blocks traffic entering OAR.

Road widening - Futility & Alternatives

idontspam - 23-JUN-2011

Road widening - Futility & Alternatives

Background

BBMP listed 217 roads to be widened. This has caused much worry among citizens as it entails widespread destruction of both greenery & property. Why do so many roads need to be widened? What are the characteristics of congestion on this road? What are the traffic patterns on these roads?

Mr. Praveen Sood, The unwritten stops at start and end of flyovers - why? - Specially the Domlur flyover

dvsquare - 12-JAN-2011

I have taken 2 snaps below - one at the Domlur flyover and another of Jayadeva Flyover. These photos clearly show why there are jams before and after the flyover.

spaces under flyovers

varsh - 26-MAR-2010

action: numerous elevated corridors that have filled the city

reason : construction for metro rail, flyovers

induced reaction : enormous spaces below the flyovers

elaborated: the metro corridors that have filled bangalore and felled trees have GIANT columns that span a distance of 80 ft from each other and have a diameter ranging from 15 to 30ft ( some whic we measured for a case study for educational purposes) . these spaces are sooo huge and big that it could be made multifunctional starting from landscaping them to actually making them commercial spaces or just using them for parking. Also they be made into cafes or makeshift bookstores.

question: what exactly can be done with these spaces?

This is my first post here. I live and work near the ORR in the Belandur Area. Have ben witnessing the chaos at the Belandur Jn on a daily basis(Although the traffic police do quite a good job to handle this intersection). I had read a lot on the plans for underpasses/flyovers a Belandur, Deevarabeesanahalli as part of the ORR signal free project.
