Service tax at restaurants

Tax rules have changed recently and that affects hotel bills. Please be aware of what you are paying after a meal, when the place is airconditioned...why just airconditioned? beats me!

From 1st june onwards the service tax is 5.6% of the total bill amount .

VAT is 14.5 % of the food bill in Karnataka..guess no other state charges so much!

So if your bill is 1000/-

With BBMP running out of money & unable to present a coherent budget, city improvement programs have reached a dead end. While congestion charging can provide money for development programs & also reduce congestion it needs technology investment & infrastructure work to plug holes in the congestion chaging cordon.

550 wealthy biggies owe 2.5 lakh crores in income taxes!

TOI carried a report on biggest IT defaulters saying 550 top defaulters who owe more than 25 crores.

..Till March 31, the total arrears were Rs 2.30 lakh crore and with the start of the new fiscal, another Rs 20,000 crore has been added to this figure. Last year, the department had managed to recover nearly Rs 12,000 crore. The target for this year has been fixed at Rs 14,000 crore...

About the above discussion on Poor response BMTC I have following suggestion where in a common man is encouraged to use Public transport by giving Tax sops to him by Governament.
