Commuter Rail - Will it really help ? 10/29/08 12:36 - Naveen
As most of us are aware, the track record of suburban railways in the larger Indian cities has been pathetic. Other than Mumbai, there is'nt a single example where such a service has successfully attracted commuters & helped reduce road congestion. Most of them have been total failures. person Naveen's post | forum 29 Comments | Read More

HAL with higher landing charges/airport taxes than BIAL ?? 10/29/08 11:12 - jammy97I am not aware of the landing charges / taxes etc that was levied in HAL and now in BIAL. HAL is closer to most parts of the city. People want the HAL reopened (atleast for short haul flights). As much as I want Bangaloreans to have a fair 'choice' between airports, I also want BIAL to become the main airport. person jammy97's post | forum 1 Comment | Read More |

10/29/08 03:51 - navshotI always wondered what is the real cost of things we buy. I realized, you can buy an LED torch for Rs. 25! How does it work out? Bill of materials should be less than Rs. 10 and labour another Rs. 5! Wow!! We usually push it aside saying "Chinese", as though its a complete explanation. But is the real cost of the product? I always wondered there has to be more to it - the hidden costs. person navshot's post | forum 6 Comments | Read More

Integrating HSRL and Metro- A thought? 10/28/08 17:01 - Transmogrifier
I'm not sure where the High Speed Rail Link to BIAL stands now (Is it still on?). If not, the forum below might be redundant. But if it is and the present alignment stands, integrating the two could be straightforward: person Transmogrifier's post | forum 5 Comments | Read More

While we continue to expect more from BMTC here on Praja, good things are being announced by the government. CM kicked off work for a TTMC at Kengeri, and while doing that, he announced (quoting TOI) a bus station in every locality and a depot every 5 km, in the next few years. Thats sweet, but sheltered bus stands with clear display of bus information would be sweeter. person silkboard's post | forum 26 Comments | Read More

That's where Bangalore 's land mafia comes in. With the courts tied up in knots, gangsters offer to secure deeds in days rather than years. "Businesspeople like to do their business, but many times the system does not permit them to do it," says Gopal Hosur, the city's joint police commissioner. "Because of escalating land values, unscrupulous elements get involved. person murali772's post | forum 3 Comments | Read More

10/27/08 14:49 - sound horn NOT okLiving in Madras for many years i was used to the bargaining, quarreling with drivers over the fare, since the concept of meters dont exist there. One just fixes a rate to travel from one place to another. And it used to be a very pleasant experience when i moved to Bangalore 10 years ago. Drivers would agree to travel to any place (atleast 90%), have perfect meters, and even give back change. person sound horn NOT ok's post | Read More |

Bus transport system is synonymous with BMTC in Bangalore. Though BMTC claims to be the best city bus system in the country, and rightly so, many feel that it can do better, and play a significant role in decongesting the traffic conditions in city. person silkboard's post | Read More |
