BMTC - New route for Sanjaynagar/Malleswaram areas

idontspam - 17 January, 2010 | Bangalore | BMTC | Bus | Malleswaram | suggestion | Sanjaynagar | Routing | Big10 | Transportation | public transport

There has been a long pending demand from the residents of Sanjaynagar, Bhoopasandra, UAS Layout and Nagashettyhalli to connect these areas to Malleshwaram and Yeswantpur via low floor buses. The Hospitals on this route usually serve aged and infirm and need a low floor service

The importance of this route are connectivity to Public Utilities - Hospitals like MS Ramaiah and Columbia Asia, Bangalore North RTO in Yeswantpur, Educational institutions like MS Ramaiah insttitutions, UAS, IISC. Connectivity to commercial districts of Malleshwaram, Yeswantpur (APMC/Brigade mall) & New BEL road. Last but not the least. Connectivity to Metro and Rail terminus in Yeswantpur and Swastik/City.

The proposal is to Run 2 routes from the Hebbal CRS Station (Till CRS comes up they could start from Bhoopasandra or extend to Bellary road under the Hebbal Flyover), One to Yeswantpur stopping or terminating at the soap factory metro station and SWR rail terminus metro station and Second to Swastik Malleshwaram railway station passing thru Margosa/sampige road.

3 Important points to note for this route

1. Connects this area to the metro transportation backbone via Yeswantpur and Swastik metro stations hence increasing the catchment area.

2. Connects the unconnected Yeswantpur and New BEL road with a lot of public utilities like Hospitals, APMC/Metro, RTO North, SWR Interstate rail

3. Public also benefits from the money spent on opening up the 80 feet road from Gedlahalli  to New BEL road and not just the CM's convoy going thru.

Big 2 & 8 Connectivity

idontspam - 17 January, 2010 - 12:12

Of course forgot to add it would be a good connection between 2 other trunk routes apart from the metro. The Yellow Big 2 & 8

Let us see if BMTC can get the first crossways feeder ready before the metro and Big 12 is operational.

Vajra dep times from ends

Naveen - 7 September, 2010 - 03:32

I get a time table from BMTC or atleast a display board indicating the next bus time

A start has been made for volvo route departure times from terminus stops, atleast, as per BMTC's webpage here. For now, I don't think they can do much other than plan & try to stick to departure schedules from end stops since traffic delays can be highly unpredictable & timings at intermediate stops can be way off, particularly during peak hours.

End stops only?

Here is something that can help.

K2 rerouting

idontspam - 7 September, 2010 - 02:32

K2 has now been rerouted to service the new BEL road via Sanjaynagar to Yeswantpur as requested here. I am sure a lot of people will be benefited. This now connects hebbal commuter rail station to Yeshwantpur. People heading towards malleshwaram for now can get off at new BEL road or IISC jn  to change to another bus or in future can catch the metro at Soap factory. It does not touch the Yeshwantpur SWR station though. One has to change to the shuttle from the Yeshwantpur TTMC.

For K2 frequency of 15 mins is not being adhered to. Lets hope in my lifetime I get a time table from BMTC or atleast a display board indicating the next bus time.
