Recently Nayandahalli railway underbridge opened completing the ring of Bangalore ring road. But the Big circle buses still continue to ply via kengeri which will reduce its usefulness drastically. There is quantum advantage of a city ring road and that is not leveraged by BMTC. I think on the east side Big circle buses ply via Kadugodi which is again a deviation. |

"Bus Priority System" - pilot G1/333 silkboard - 12-OCT-2010
A serious switch to public transport (PT) can be triggered if PT can move at closer or better effective speed compared to cars/mobikes. Buses are prime mode of PT in Bengaluru, and would be so for near future. |
Lobby for BRT in Bangalore - focus Big10, Circle routes? silkboard - 1-OCT-2010
First things first. If you don't like BRT, think it absolutely can't be done, please keep out, and discuss on other posts. This thread is for those who think that BRT in some sort or form (dedicated corridors, only at some places, or priority signals, or bus only magic boxes, or whatever) is needed for Bangalore, and can possibly be done. |
BMTC - S1 Route (Vijayanagar to Vijayanagar) Ravi_D - 9-APR-2010
Saw these buses plying on outer ring road near BTM layout yesterday & today. Looks like an extension of Big10 concept, Big10 to Circle Routes to S (not sure what it stands for) routes? Surprisingly, while the BMTC call center did not have any detail to offer, the buses seemed to quite fully loaded!. I got bumped from the call center guy to the control room to Vijayanagar Bus Stand (22952362). All were cordial, willing to help, but had no info to offer. |
BMTC - New route for Sanjaynagar/Malleswaram areas idontspam - 17-JAN-2010
There has been a long pending demand from the residents of Sanjaynagar, Bhoopasandra, UAS Layout and Nagashettyhalli to connect these areas to Malleshwaram and Yeswantpur via low floor buses. The Hospitals on this route usually serve aged and infirm and need a low floor service |
Big10 - 5 things to build upon BMTC's direction-based rework silkboard - 5-JAN-2010
What's your Bangalore Bus dream? I will tell you mine. Take local area bus to get to nearest Large bus stop in your sub-urb or locality. Or take your car to the Park And Ride Plaza in your sub-urb. Then change to a Big10. Dedicated lanes at places make sure you feel good about watching the cars wait in jams and chaos. |

silkboard - 23-SEP-2009
A book to group together posts that uncover Big10 related routing reform initiated at BMTC. Big10 is seen as an attempt to rationalize BMTC's routing scheme. Simply put, the concept consists of radial routes connecting peripheral areas with central business district, and the rings or local shuttles could provide angular or last mile connectivity. |
