PRR Phase I
tsubba - 23 September, 2007 | Bangalore | BDA | PRR | Road Works | Citizen Reports | Transportation | Infrastructure
Work on the first phase of the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), aimed to decongest Bangalore, would start in mid-October after STUP Consultants, the agency chosen to chalk out the design, submitted the detailed project report, said M.K. Shankaralinge Gowda, Commissioner, Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), here on Saturday. Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the seminar on ‘Town planning at crossroads — crisis in urban development and governance’, the BDA Commissioner said the authority would take up work on the first phase only for now. The first phase itself was a huge project. “We have taken up this part of the PRR because it will provide better access to the northern side of the city, especially since the international airport is coming up at Devanahalli,” he said. The first phase will link Tumkur, Old Madras and Hosur roads. Compensation The land acquisition process for the first phase had started and compensation packages were being worked out, he added. The govt instead of fighting with NICE and getting insulted by the supreme court, can convert the NICE road connecting Hosur road to tumkur road to become part of the PRR and they can complete the other part only...via hoskote Govt along with NICE can make this PRR section toll free In lieu they can allow NICE to complete the tolled mysore expressway Govt can control/take over the extra land given to NICE Govt need not add lanes to the existing road to mysore(its a good road) This will also avoid criticism that the nice road is less than 500 mts from the planned PRR this will save the time and address the pressing connectivity issues and stop the trucks entering bagalore
And connect the planned BIAL expressway to this PRR/NICE PRR network. further, let BETL expressway join 'freely' (with a tollgate of course) into NICE PRR. Then, make Link Road (another expressway part of BMIC plan) connect to planned Core Inner Ring Road (possibly another expressway). Make the same Core Inner Ring Road connect to the proposed Minsk Square - Hebbal "tunnel" road. Wont it be nice to have a road network like that!? Whats wrong in dreaming!?
