Team SSK - run for inclusion
murali772 - 17 November, 2011 | Bangalore | Others | Everything else | inclusiveness
We would like to cordially invite you to the 'Team SSK - run for inclusion' organized by Spastics Society of Karnataka on Nov 27th, Sunday. The event will focus on inclusive living and bringing together communities. We will strive to create awareness about the need for sensitivity towards the disabled and their needs. The event will create awareness about the varied efforts of Spastics Society of Karnataka. The event will also bring together children and adults from varying class, cultural, religious, caste or any other diverse background in promoting the cause of inclusion and well being in the true sense.
Objectives:
To help mitigate misconceptions about disabilities and sensitize children to respect the varying abilities of other children
To help bring closer families and communities to the disabled and thus be able to empathize with them.
To expose children to people from all backgrounds so as to give an opportunity to interact, involve in similar activities and live together.
Location: Spastics Society of Karnataka, No 31, 5th Cross, Off 5th Main, Indira Nagar.
Map: http://tinyurl.com/ssk-map
Time: 7:15 A.M - Registrations, 8:00 A.M - Race start.
Date: Nov 27, Sunday
Format:
The run will be on a 4km route (2km out and 2km back). We will strive to clock as many kms as possible in 1-1.5 hours as a team. Participants will run for time to clock as many kms as they wish. Of course, you can walk the whole loop, if you choose to. Refreshments and breakfast will be provided at the venue.
Terrain and location:
It will be a mostly flat road route in and around Indra nagar. Vehicular traffic would be a minimum and controlled by traffic wardens.
Who can run?:
Anyone above the age of 10 can participate in the run.
Prizes:
The event’s objective is to go beyond the usual ‘need for speed’ and make this a wholesome event. The event is about bringing together adults and children from varying backgrounds with running as a unifying factor. Every participant will get a memorabilia. As a matter of principle, there will be NO specific prizes to promote any one skill over the other.
Registration:
A nominal registration fee of Rs.150 (per runner) would be collected at the venue to cover the cost. The registration fee also covers the cost of a simple breakfast. We would strive to organize this 'no profit' event at the minimum cost and impact to the environment. If there are any proceeds from the event, it will directly go to Spastics Society of Karnataka’s efforts.

We look forward to having you run or walk with us on November 27th for a fun-filled event! Please do help us spread the word and come as friends, families or just runners :)
Thanks,
Santhosh.

smile through your problems

"When you are with them and you see them smiling throughout, you learn the serious lesson of life that no problem is a big problem. If the special children, despite being born with such difficulties can always manage to smile through their problems then so can we"
