Tomorrow (Saturday, 21/Sept) few Praja members are riding bicycles to Tattekere. All are welcome to join. This is our second outside-the-city, and first relatively long distance ride. First was the one up the Nandi hill, some 25km up and down. This time we hope to reach 100km mark.
All are welcome. If you cannot go all the way, always have the option to head back from anywhere along the route.
Start: ORR/Kanakapura Road junction.
Destination: Thattekere lake.
Plan to meet and cheer a massive BBC (Bangalore Bikes Club) crowd planning on a Bangalore-Mysore cycle ride the same day starting from the same spot. They already have 110+ confirmed riders.
Below is the plan:
Meet at Sarakki Circle (aka Merida Junction, ORR / Kanakapura Rd Jn) around 5:30am.
After a chat with some of the cyclists heading to MYS, depart with them at 6am from Merida Jn. It is a easy downhill all the way to Harohalli.
Get off the highway at Harohalli, and turn left (East) to reach Thattekere lake.
Return the same way, or any other way you like! If you are riding an MTB, return via Ragihalli and Bannerghatta National Forest could be a treat.
What to bring:
A working cycle!, yourslef!!, helmet, water. Sports drinks, ORS or Glucose helps. Bring something to snak on. Bananas work very well at quick stops. If you plan to start the ride early, reflective gear (or better still, LED blinkers) is a must. Gloves help. Spare tubes, pucture kits and minimal tools help in case you or your friends end up with a flat.
It is a self supported event. While other cyclists generally stop to help, be prepared to take care of yourslef and your bike.
Come, enjoy and have fun riding on a nice cool morning. Be a part of 100+ cyclists thundering down the road, even if not all the way to Mysore!
