Sanjeev, Naveen, IDS and Prof Sitharam, all the best for the meeting with DULT, regret that I won't be able to join.
Going by the comments so far (none!), looks like a weekday is tight for others as well.
Routing of namma railu
devadas jeppu - 23 December, 2010 - 07:08
Is there any plan to make Byeppanahalli as commuter rail central terminus?
Thanks for NR team!

Sanjeev,
Thanks for posting the proceedings of the meeting. A BIG thank to the Namma Railu Team for exerting all their time and effort to take this to the next level.
Please let me know how people like me who are not based in Bengaluru can contribute to these efforts. Letters/Faxes to MPs/MLAs, anything thatt would help this cause.

operating difficulty at Bangalore city
devadas jeppu - 18 December, 2010 - 03:51
Namma Railu need not operate out of Bangalore city as central point. This is both from railways operational angle and commuter convenience. Byeppananhalli where railways hv large tract of land and which is also one of metro terminus cud ideally be central point. morever this station is already connected to west(tumkur via yeshwantpur), east(hosur) and northern(dodballapur) corridors
Meeting with Commissioner / DULT on 16th Dec'2010
Sanjeev - 17 December, 2010 - 10:46
Meeting with Commissioner / DULT was arranged this morning 16th Dec at 11 am at DULT conference hall. CiSTUP/ IISc, BCIC & Praja attended the meeting.
Following members attended the meeting
1. Manjula IAS / Commissioner / DULT
2. IAS / IDD
3. Prof. Sitaram CISTUP / IISc.
4. Y N Babu / SDOM SWR
5. Satya / Praja
6. Naveen / Praja
7. Sanjeev / Praja
8. Sumitra Iyangar BCIC
9. K S Kartik GEODESIC
10. Tusharmani / DULT
11. George Planning / SWR
Initially Prof Sitaram explained the concept of Commuter Rail for Bangalore & its scope. Discussion took place on the existing 14 pair of trains which are running exclusivily to suburbs of Bangalore like Bangarpet, Tumkur, Hosur, Chikballapur.
Then Mr Satya presented on how Commuter rail need to be taken forward to DPR. stage
In the process Mr Babu explained their difficulty operating at main Bangalore city and on going projects of SWR.
Mr Babu has finally agreed on the Commuter Rail under SPV / PPP with SWR sharing its resources. They are now willing to work with State Govt on how to take forward this inculding DPR.
Now CiSTUP, SWR & Praja need to come out with segments where SWR can allow for the Commuter rail with additional Infrastructure and plan for ramp up the further trains for the Commuter Rail till full fledge services are put in place with dedicated tracks.
Now CiSTUP, SWR & Praja will prepare presentation to-gether where their will not be any disputes with SWR for ED / Planning of Indian Railways before 23rd Dec'2010.
In over all things lookng up now for Commuter Rail as compared to the meeting with DRM's office.
Now we need Public to speak out in all forums on the Commuter Rail so that State & Center work to-gether to get the project.
Satya & Naveen if any corrections or addtions can be done..
Sanjeev
excellent meeting, next step - get IDD to start the DPR?
silkboard - 18 December, 2010 - 07:31
Sanjeev, Sathya, Naveen, Prof Sitharam - great show, looks like this meeting went well. Looks like the next step clearly is to have someone fund (SWR, or state?) a DPR. Will state fund it? As per last state stand of Mr Madhu/IDD, they are willing to fund the DPR if SWR says "yes, I am willing to look at it". So after this meeting, SWR is willing to say that, right?
Would the next stop be IDD then?
Or, is SWR itself willing to fund a DPR?
or will it be DULT now?
silkboard - 18 December, 2010 - 07:33
Forgot to ask - will DULT be willing to fund/undertake the DPR? Org structure wise, wow is DULT related to IDD?

DULT & IDD
idontspam - 18 December, 2010 - 07:51
will DULT be willing to fund/undertake the DPR? Org structure wise, wow is DULT related to IDD?
She brushed aside my question on the same and asked us not to get into the "how-we-will-do-it" part. They probably dont like being told/asked this.
Realised the factual error in the memo. The DULT meeting should read 16 Dec 2010 and not 16th Nov 2010.
