Going by the Metro discussions here, recent and past, we got to meet with BMRC and understand station designs, studies on catchment area, integration with BMTC and more and ask some questions. How many are game for a meeting? Indicate your willingness via a comment on this post. Anyone who has contacts or connections already established with senior engineers or Directors of BMRCL, please send admin a message (via contact, or private message). Meanwhile, we will try to reach them directly.

EC link in Phase II
mcadambi - 7 October, 2008 - 12:55
I saw a slide in the BMLTA summit that Namma Metro intends to provide a stop at EC on Phase II of the project. This can be confirmed during the meeting.
I'll join if I'm back...
Ravi_D - 1 October, 2008 - 11:48
I'm in Singapore for the next two/three weeks. Will sure join in if schedules work out.
Thanks,
Ravi
Am out of town till Oct 8
s_yajaman - 1 October, 2008 - 07:45
Srinath,
I am out of Bangalore from Oct 1 to Oct 8. Can't make any meeting. I have plenty of pictures of Singapore's MRT system. If I am in Bangalore when the meeting is scheduled, I would like to join.
Questions from my side
a. Why only 3 coach rakes to start with? The Metro should target much more ridership from Day 1.
b. Connectivity from stations to nearby areas. What is the plan?
c. RV Road terminal - what is the traffic plan around 40th cross? A residential area and so much traffic will lead to conflict.
d. Repeat M Cadambi - why is visible progress so slow? Delhi Metro is chugging along much faster.

Lakshman Rau Boulevard!!!
Arun - 1 October, 2008 - 10:17
I would like to attend this meeting. Observing the developments over the last 4+ years, I have seen lack of transparency in most decisions. Also being too rigid has caused delays to the project. I would like to understand BMRC’s commitment to – • Protect Lakshman Rau Boulevard – how are they going to handle issues of parking, commercialization, etc • Possibilities of going underground or a shift to avoid the Boulevard (not too late I believe) • How are they carrying out the extension from Jayanagar – will it be towards BSK or Silk Board? Terminating a MRTS in the middle of a residential locality means tons of trouble.
BMRC Meeting
Naveen - 1 October, 2008 - 03:37
I would certainly like to go for the meeting, but my availiability is after 15th/Oct. If the meeting is scheduled after the 15th, I request to be counted in.
I would also like to check with them about what provisions are being made for fast /efficient feeder buses. I fully agree with what Silkboard mentioned - that without a proper network of feeder services, the Metro may fail.
I also wish to check about the other feeder services planned - the monorail/s & also about inclusion of JC Rd /Corpn & Residency Rd /Richmond circle - these are vital points that seem to have been ignored in the proposed Metro /Mono alignments, so far.

ITPL Area connection and BIAL connection
mcadambi - 1 October, 2008 - 04:59
Metro seems to connect Electronics City in Phase II but seems to ignore ITPL area and BIAL. Our Hon'ble CM proposed to connect Metro from Byappanahalli towards BIAL. These are the two questions that i'd like to ask BMRCL. I will not be in Bangalore around the time of the meeting. Second - why is the pace of work so slow? Third - why are heritage structures like the ancient home of master architect of yester years, Sri Komer Srinivasachar in VV puram being put under acquisition instead of other properties in that area? Soft targets I presume.

ssheragu - 1 October, 2008 - 07:18
ssheragu I am in touch with BMRC Mr. Sivasailam is now (at 11:30 a.m. on 1-10-2008) is attending a meeting. He willl be away till Monday (6-10-2008). I have asked Mr. Reddy in his office to provide some convenient dates so that we cam meet at a mutually conveneinet date. In the meanwhile is it possible for our overseas Praja brothers / members to provide some good designs of exquisite metros overseas and also provide other feedback, so that we use this during our discussions with him Thanks Srinath Heragu

Key points : On Schedule : Can we make it more objective and visible. I remember one of the METRO people saying they met 45 out of 300 milestones or something. Can they put their tracking chart on their website, so everybody knows the precise progress. It will also put pressure on their leadership to deliver. On station design: My key concern, is do they have provision for parking (park and ride) and bus stops/ cabs/ autos. I think park and ride is very important to get better ridership. Can they share the station design with us, put it on the WEB for public to comment On routes: Can they consider extending phase 2 to BIAL. Also can we look at an at grade METRO on PRR right away

No response yet to direct emails sent from praja admin email. Folks would probably be out due to Dussehra holidays. Lets wait a week before trying other channels of contacting them.
Station plans details - observations
silkboard - 3 October, 2008 - 20:07
Pulled these out from http://www.bmrc.co.in/pdf/smp.pdf.
See land area plan for R V Road Terminal
Now, if you look at the station depiction, you are shown grass and garden next to the station. As per the land plan above, looks like the station will extend till the adjoining roads. So the picture can't be right.
Similarly, its not clear if there will be work done to make bus bays at stations? Where would I get out of the station - on R V Road, or adjoining roads till where the station stretches? Any parking planned? If not, then I would expect buses to go in directions vertical to Metro line to take me deeper and farther into Jayanagar. How would that happen - via BMTC buses, or will Metro operate local shuttles like Delhi Metro is doing now (DMRC just ordered 300 more low floor buses)?
Confirmed meeting on 11th October
admin123 - 7 October, 2008 - 06:40
Mr. Sivasailam has been kind enough to give us an appointment at 11 AM on 11th October. The meeting will presumably be at BMRC's office. Hope we all can make it.

Have requested for next weekend (Oct 18)
admin123 - 7 October, 2008 - 10:27
Since a good # of old timer members are out or busy this weekend due to holidays, we have requested for BMRC's time next weekend. Will update as soon as we get confirmation. Please do leave your comment of interest (via PM or comment here), mention if you can do Oct 11 (current plan) as well.
mcadambi - ITPL, EC - very relevant yet unspecific question
Devesh - 7 October, 2008 - 12:01
Compliments on the question. Very relevant to Bangalore as a whole, and also not very locality specific.
The BCIC Infrastructure Committee with be hosting Mr. Sivasailam in our meeting on 16th. Can I use your question ? Will add Bommsandra and Jigani, with your permission. Bangalore is more than IT.

Feel free to use any question
mcadambi - 7 October, 2008 - 12:46
Mr Devesh, feel free to use any question. My biggest concern, however, is not the connectivity to those areas (EC, ITPL), but the over all pace of execution. The Dubai Metro is progressing at a rocket's pace while we still struggle to finish reach one of Phase one.
Why no parallelization
Vasanth - 8 October, 2008 - 09:11
Ideal way to execute these kind of projects is to start work parallely in many places. It has been 1 year since the MG Road work has started, but not even digging has started on the RV Road. Underground work which is the most time consuming portion has not been initiated still. Second question is why there is so much delay in selecting an operator for Monorail work. Progress has been nil on this front. Confirmation of HSRL or Normal Metro to BIAL. Why to wait for Phase 2 for connecting to EC. Why not start phase 2 parallely?
..or prioritization?
blrsri - 8 October, 2008 - 10:15
..we can easily see that the city market - majestic is one of the most busy routes, with most busses travelling btwn the two places.. It makes a lot of sense to have trains running btwn the two stns' Btwn we were talking of the disadvantages of the hub and spoke model for bus routes..doesnt the same apply for trains? Arent we re-enforcing the model using metro trains too?
BMRC Meeting
Naveen - 13 October, 2008 - 11:15
Hi All,
I can make it if the meeting is still planned on the 18th or anytime.
I agree with Vasanth - visibly, the work appears very slow along all reaches barring the MG Rd ~ Byappanahalli stretch (Reach-1). If they plan to have all sections in operation as scheduled, the pace of work has to improve considerably - there are sure signs of a delay if this continues. Tunnel boring is yet to commence & is a major obstacle that needs to be dealt with soonest.
BMRCL accepts too
blrsri - 13 October, 2008 - 12:28
"..The slow performance of the contractor(Navyuga) selected by the BMRCL is also an issue. At one stage, it was decided to even do away with the selected contractor and go for a fresh tender bidding process. But, there are issues involved in it. The BMRCL has issued instructions to the contractor to speed up the activity so as to complete the project as per deadlines set"

BMRC Meeting - When ?
Naveen - 25 October, 2008 - 12:34
Hi All, What is the progress on this, if any ? Today's TOI reports that the E-W corridor is awaiting a DPR from DMRC for extension from Byappanahalli to Whitefield, & from Mysore Rd to Kengeri - possibly during Ph-2.
Re: Metro Update
Vasanth - 12 March, 2009 - 11:40
Phase 2 may complete by 2015 only. It will be between Yelahanka and Electronic City.
Hebbal may get the monorail as per original CTTP report. SCOMI Geodesic proposal does not contain Hebbal.

adarshh - 12 March, 2009 - 08:06
Hello folks,
I am new here. i live in the hebbal area. Does anyone have any updates on phase-2 work after your meeting with BMRCL?
