Had been to Hyderabad over the weekend to attend a wedding. Wanted to explore MMTS utilizing this. Reached Kachiguda on Friday morning at around 8:20 am in Bangalore - Kachiguda Express. Had done little work on the net on how to reach Miyapuram using MMTS to save both time and money. Found Hafeezpet is the nearest MMTS railway station and there is an MMTS train every 30 minutes. |

First woman to drive the MMTS on Women's Day Sanjeev - 8-MAR-2012
On Women’s Day, the South Central Railway has decided to harness woman power to drive a train. S Satyavathi will become the first independent woman loco pilot, when she runs out the Falaknuma-Lingampalli Mathrubhoomi Ladies Special MMTS on Thursday. Satyavathi, who joined the Railways as assistant loco pilot in 1999 at Bengaluru, was later transferred to the Secunderabad division. |

Actually, not just free, they will end up getting paid some money (Rs 1240 crores, about 10% of the project cost of Rs 12410 crores) by the winning consortium. Read it yourself, this biz-standard article - Hyd to get 71 km Metro for free. Stats to compare from cost angle are - 65 km Delhi Metro comes at Rs 10500 crores, and 42 km Bangalore at Rs 6500 Crores, both are state funded.
