Heavy toll for NICE drive

murali772 - 18-DEC-2008

Already embroiled in litigation over key issues involved in the implementation of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor, its promoter, NICE on Wednesday delivered a shocker to motorists. The toll will be the highest in the country and will be in force until December 31 when it can exercise the option of revising it, at an annual rate of 10 per cent increase.

Accountability on BMIC and Potential Meeting with Mr. Kheny

I am a new member of Praja and am excited to see the possibilities.

The main project that comes to mind is BMIC / NICE. There seems no credible and accountable source of information on progress for this anticipated project except for Hon. Deve Gowda complaining about land allocation. Core issues:

Public Transport on NICE Peripherial Road

Vasanth - 14-JUL-2008

Now the government has cleared NICE project, peripheral road should be complete very soon and it will be clogged by Bangalore Cars + Trucks!!

Peripheral Ring Road is back with BDA

silkboard - 13-JUN-2008

http://www.bdabangalore.org/pprnew.htmThe Peripheral Ring Road is back. Not much new as far as the specs are concerned, but the big changes are, one, BDA (state govt) will be executing it, not NHAI (central govt) and two, it will be a PPP project.

There were several reports across papers today (ET, Biz-standard) and here is a summary:

BMIC updates - Guv proposes, EC disposes

It probably started in late March (28/3/08), when Supreme Court issued notices asking Karnataka government to respond as to why the SC order on BMIC is not implemented. The notice was returnable in six weeks. Fast forward that much time, and on May 7, we were told (TOI - typically pro NICE) that government has issued a go ahead on BMIC:

"... the government has paved the way for completion of the peripheral and link roads, which were stalled by the H D Kumaraswamy government. Besides, an empowered committee headed by chief secretary Sudhakar Rao has been asked to take all necessary steps for early completion of NICE's projects ..."
