murali772 - 19-APR-2011

While doing up the footpaths/ roads, a few years back, the paving/ concreting was done almost choking the tree trunks/ roots, as seen in the pictures below:

So BBMP, when to demolish the Windsor Manor bridge?

silkboard - 4-JAN-2011

Leave aside cutting down five hundred trees for a moment. Lets get into engineering and traffic planning specifics. What BBMP is trying to do is widen this of stretch Bellary Road. There is some justification, stretch from Mekhari circle to Windsor Manor is a bit narrow to manage four lanes of traffic. The Cauvery junction Magic Box is tight on space.

Green massacre

murali772 - 11-NOV-2010

Bloodless it will be, but it will make the city bleed in course of time. More than 850 trees on Jayamahal Road will be gone in a month’s time to make way for more vehicles of pollution.

Green Bangalore? See this picture

PManish - 10-NOV-2010

A picture speaks more than 1000 words. Look at this snap. It is a new electronic display installed just few days back at Kundanhalli Gate signal, Bangalore. Also look at the tree, whose branches are cut so that the display becomes visible to all.

sourav894 - 22-OCT-2010

The greatest charm of the Bangalore city is the fact that it is the garden city of India. While cities like Delhi, Mumbay and Kolkata cannot survive a day without CNG, Bangalore still has gushes of fresh air to offer. The roads of Bangalore have a cool breezy feel due to the trees around the sidewalk. Unfortunately Bangalore is loosing this charm.

BBMP's bike lanes on tree lines

vlnarayan - 19-SEP-2010

Now BBMP wants to lay a 5.15-km-long bike lane which, it believes, jauntily pedalling commuters would use to merrily ride to work and cycle enthusiasts would find their path to recreation for which the civic body also wants to fell over 850 trees in the name of road widening around the outer perimeter of Bangalore’s historic Palace Ground.

Covering of storm water drains: Useless and detrimental

vneevarp - 2-AUG-2010

I've noticed a lot of activity in our locality with the authorities covering the storm water drains in front of houses. These drains for more than 20 years, carried only storm water when it rained and otherwise were quite dry. On an average, they are about 1 1/2 feet wide and about 1 1/2 feet deep.
