The Traffic Quagmire – Using Logic & Rationality the Right Way Naveen - 25-MAR-2008
Vasanth - your post ‘Using Technology the Right Way’ made good reading. We can come up with umpteen reasons for the chaos that traffic is, but simply put, there is just one real core issue – the city is trying to cope with traffic loads for which it’s road network certainly was never designed nor envisaged. Despite having lost the battle time & again, all efforts so far have been to satisfy the ‘Car lobbies’, even at the expense of pedestrians, bicyclists & public transport users. Planning & Construction of the Metro rail is the only exception.Plans, policies & procedures that involve a multi-dimensional approach to seek long-term & permanent solutions have never materialized, though efforts have been made. |

blrsri - 22-JAN-2008We are talking of busses as a alternative till the metro comes up..but actually how safe are they? Its almost weekly that they go about claiming lives of innocent people, including children..I would say a serious study needs to be done as to how many busses a road can take at any point in time and limits should be set on that! |

Bangalore Airport Link Rail Corporation tsubba - 18-DEC-2007
TNN's R Jayaprakash(ToI Dec 18 2007) is reporting that in the next few
weeks, the government will float a Bangalore Airport
Link Rail Corporation and set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)
to handle the affairs. Quoting an official working on the project the
report says that the tentative name suggested is Bangalore Airport Rail Link
Corporation. This follows the meeting DMRC’s E Sreedharan had
with the governor. The governor’s office will seek Centre’s consent in
the
absence of an elected body. And get this, apparently, the train
promises to take you from MG road to airport in
just 15
minutes!!! |
