Manual ped signals

Bheema.Upadhyaya - 4-MAY-2011

I appriciate this facility by BTP/B-TRAC. This switch enables pedistrians to intervene automatic signal so that a green signal is forced for road crossing. As this seems relatively new, no one seems using it. Probably some volunteering work needed to educate users. We need more such signals at highways.

A non-stop Fast Public Transport Service on Elevated Road from Silkboard To Electronic City

dvsquare - 19-APR-2011

A few days back, I had to go to Electronics city with a friend of mine, I rarely go towards that side (Hosur Road) generally. And that was the first time, we took the Elevated Flyover over the Hosur Road. I thought of an idea/suggestion that if a BMTC mini-bus kind of vehicle can just do a to-and-fro from Start of the Flyover (near SilkBoard) and Electronics-City toll-post.

Inching

Ravi_D - 4-MAR-2011

Happens so often in our world, but this one really got to me this morning. After waiting patiently for the light to turn green the third time, I managed to get tangled up right in the middle of the intersection - with vehicles inching in from all directions and eat into whatever little space that was left for me to pass.

Yet another way to enforce traffic rules

Rithesh - 2-DEC-2010

One can call it decentralization of traffic rules enforcement - let citizens help the police book people for traffic violations and let them be rewarded for this.

Car usage disincentives - it's happening

murali772 - 24-AUG-2010

Are you a resident of Mizoram capital Aizawl? If yes, do not buy a car until you have a garage or parking space. Grappled with constant traffic snarls, Mizoram has finally found a way out, banning the sale of vehicles to any individual who does not own a garage or parking space. A car purchased after August 30 will be viewed illegal if its owner does not possess a garage or parking space.

Police ticketing BMTC

sanjayv - 18-AUG-2010

A short report:  I saw a traffic policeman giving a challan to a BMTC bus that was parked awkwardly on the down ramp from Marathalli bridge.  Excellent start.  I want to see challans for improper parking at bus stops, illegal U-turns, ignoring lane discipline etc.

PRAJA Saarige not to be, atleast for now

murali772 - 13-AUG-2010

After a persistent pursuit, through registered letters, RTI queries, appeals, etc, targeted primarily at the Commissioner for Transport in Karnataka, he has finally got the the RTO, Koramangala, to write to me officially to say that I cannot be issued a license to operate 'majilu vahanagalu' (meaning 'stage carriage', I guess) in the city.

Shrines on public spaces to go

murali772 - 3-AUG-2010

In a courageous move, the Karnataka government has decided to crack down on unauthorized religious shrines, including temples, churches, mosques and gurdwaras, which encroach upon roads, parks, storm water drains and other public places.

Road Lanes - Will it work in India?

idontspam - 26-JUL-2010

In a good piece called Why is lane discipline so indisciplined here? Praveen Sood Addl CP, Traffic, Bangalore raises the important question of
