I am a kannadiga and have noticed that kannadigas hesitate a lot to assert their identity and get blended with the society where ever they go. If kannadigas (especially the educated ones) stop speaking kannada to their own people as it is happening now, the future for our language appears bleak. |

Was passing by a so called slum which has come up adjecent to the ring road in front of PES engineering college..this was BWSSB property not too long ago..but a slum has come up in its place.. |

Few months back the road widening activity started from GM palya to Vignan Nagar. The clearing and electric poles havebeen replaced but the remaining work is left as it is. Travelling on the road has become a major hassel specially for pregnant woman and people with back pains. |

The environment ministry has declared a reward system called "Green Bonus" as an incentive for states to protect and increase their green cover. The details of this scheme are not out yet but it sure sounds interesting. I do hope that this comes out as early as possible. |

But we, a bunch of nobodies, group of mostly no-namers, have tried reaching out to various local bodies in Bangalore over past year for few things here and there. We have also seen and heard about other citizen's (may or may not be Praja members) attempts at connecting with city's local bodies. |

The way the BWSSB, in the absence of BBMP elected mayor and his team, is going ahead with its job of planning and maintaining the city infrastructure is not acceptable. Reference is made to the earlier two threads on the subject on SWD. |

Namma Bengaluru's struggle to manage its growth is partly a result of its broken governance structure. Central area of city had a municipality, which was expanded to cover sorrounding areas much after chaos has crept in on the peripheries. Even after the expansion, certain critical areas like transportation and water are not directly controlled by the local government. |
