Pune corporation recently got the Il&FS to produce a comprehensive mobility plan for the city. Not surprisingly the plan suggests a need for mega projects from Metro, BRT, Flyovers, Subways, Viaducts, Elevated roads, Bridges, Road over river - a bhelpuri of a kind. |

Simple Solution to Ganesh Mandals and digging of the roads asj - 1-SEP-2008
We all agonise each year over roads being dug up by Ganesh Mandals (Lokmanya Tilak must be restless seeing what his efforts to pull the community have come to).
In the past, I have suggested that barrels are used to support bamboo pole's. One can either fill the barrels with sand and rubble to support the pole or even produce pre-fabricated barrels filled with concrete with a central gap to secure the pole. I have seen such pre-fabricated barrels in use in UK where they are used to erect temporary traffic lights during road works. |

Hi! Thought we could collect, categorise, print and hand over every resource that details good practice with regards road / pedestrian infrastructure to our authorities. Lets not leave them with any excuse for executing yet annother bad job. I know we have our IRC stuff floating about, but I find their work somehow falls short (and why wont they let people download stuff - they are limiting their ability of empowering citizens with this crazy policy). |

My views on BRT have been known for a while on Praja. I am not anti or pro any model. I believe a place has a thing and a thing has a place. First we must be able to justify BRTS on basis of need, then it should be implementable on given corridor (just being able to implement without demonstrated need is no good). Here is an algorithm which I would use -

Here is the entire quiz database of 170 questions available as two interactive quiz e-book's to test your knowledge of road safety related issues. This is a free downloadable resource for all who are preparing to sit the theory driving test as a part of licensing procedure. The latter is rare as most states in India still have not implemented a mandatory theory test for learner drivers. Hope is that Road Traffic Authorities in India use the above as a starting point for implementing a mandatory theory test for all new learner drivers. This resource is also likely to be a perfect way of refreshing the knowledge base of those who have been driving for several years.
