Say no to road widening in Bangalore - Petitions indian - 5-JUL-2010
40,000 properties in Bangalore are likely to be demolished to widen 227 roads by displacing 38,000 to 2 lakh people for private vehicles. Pedestrians have no footpaths to walk. Road widenings must be stopped. Homes, properties and livelihoods of the citizens must be saved. Roads should be accessible for all sections of society. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/no-to-road-widening-in-bangalore (Fully featured and comprehensive version) http://www.petitiononline.com/roadwide/ (Patially featured and condensed version) Twitter Tweet |

BMRC has uploaded an artists impression of the proposed MG Road Boulevard. Large 10MB file full of graphics. Proposal is for a two level boulevard, spread along a 400m corridor next to the metro pillars that ends at Anil Kumble Jn. Should be a nice place to go to if the reality turns out as good.... Couldn't help think why cramp so many different activities in just a half a km stretch. Personally I'd prefer a single theme to a place, and many such places along the Metro lines. Why only MG Road? Why not landscape and use area under the pillars along many such places in the city? |
Pedestrian skywalk at KR Puram Ring Road chaos, finally silkboard - 7-MAR-2010
I am not a fan of skywalks (prefer regular ped-signals, or underpass), but the chaos that this place is - Outer Ring Road/Old Madras Road junction near Tin Factory, K R Puram - a pedestrian skywalk to cross 8 lanes of thick traffic should help. After our last round of complaints etc, the pedestrian signals had been operating for some time, they still are - either the light turns red, or cops stop traffic to let pedestrians cross. The skywalk (such a late arrival) is perhaps part of signal-free ORR project.

Pedestrianization success story rs - 25-FEB-2010
Interesting story about Amman's Master Plan... www.nytimes.com/2010/02/24/world/middleeast/24amman.html They seem to have implemented a pedestrianization project which has transformed the city. If only Bangalore's powers that be had such vision... |
How to cross Hosur Road below Elevated Expressway gsvasan - 19-FEB-2010
There is no easy way for people on the ground to cross express way (Hosur Road) by bus and cycle. One needs to walk or traverse a long distance to cross the elevated expressway as there is no footpath. For example if you got to building say across pier 26, u need to cycle or walk to pier 51 and come all the way back. What can we do about this? are the roads not for common people? |

Bumpy roads of Bangalore - Road Humps the back breakers not speed breakers. srikanthml - 29-DEC-2009
Maybe this has been discussed earlier. I am appalled by the state of Bangalore roads of late. Day by day there are more road humps added to the streets without any thought on the inconvenience it causes to the riders/drivers. |
