Several times I have been harrassed by traffic police. I have even been fined on a one-way inspite of going in the correct direction. I kept arguing and the cop kept threatening me with words like warrant, summons etc. Finally I ended up paying 100 Rs fine inspite of following all the rules. That had left a bitter taste in my mouth about traffic police. |

HSR Flyover - overhead power lines a problem? silkboard - 24-APR-2010
While the work at a flyover on Outer Ring Road near HSR Layout is in full swing, I don't see anything that indicates that the overhead power transmission lines will be raised to accomodate the new flyover. Took some pictures ...

Mysore - Chennai New LHB Shatabdi Experience Vasanth - 12-APR-2010
This Sunday afternoon I travelled from Mysore to Bangalore on 2008, Mysore-Chennai Shatabdi with new generation LHB coaches. It was a very nice experience. I recently travlled between two cities a lot, mostly on road and it was very boring nowadays with too much traffic on Bangalore-Mysore road. Volvo and car travel as well take minimum of 2 hr 15 minutes from Nayandahalli (Bangalore city tip towards Mysore road) to Mysore. Amazingly train took just 1 hr 50 minutes from Mysore station to Bangalore station, leaving Mysore at 2:15 and reaching Bangalore(Binny Mill) at 4:05. I had travelled last year in the same train but with older coaches, and it took 2 hr 15 minutes. The new coaches have made a lot of difference. We reached Nayandahalli within 1hr 40 minutes. Unfortunately we were not allowed inside the station, were halted with red signal near Binny mill and left inside only after 10 minutes making the journey 2 hours. Hope railways solves this problem. |

JnNurm funds are being used and announcements being made by BMTC about launching new busses on Blr roads..everything is being done in a hurry.. They are saying about 200 of Marcopolo's will be ordered..are they worth it? They cost 20-30% less than the Volvo's but have been found lacking in refinements which are basic at that cost! 1. The engines are way too noisy...even on normal roads..the bus struggles to start and passengers in the bus can hear the loud engine..even people in the traffic arround the bus can hear the loud noise! 2. The AC is not efficient..there are reports of passengers sweating inside the bus! 3.The automatic doors have issues and transmission too With all the issues, is it really worth going for these busses.. On the other hand KSRTC low floor bus design has been found commendable by the centre http://www.deccanherald.com/content/52727/centre-commends-ksrtc-bus-design.html Should we just go for such busses than the Marcopolos? |

BMTC Daily Pass - M/F Significance. Bheema.Upadhyaya - 16-FEB-2010
I was just wondering what is the significance of marking M/F (Male/Female) in daily passes. Does this help BMTC/public in any way or just an overhead to conductor to mark M/F? Today I have seen an incident conductor did not mark it properly and there was a big fight. Another day I have seen a conductor asked a lady to get down from the bus , as her pass was not marked clearly as female pass. |

Amongst various discussions, it was emphasized that priority was needed for meetings with BMTC & BMRCL to discuss issues. |
