BMTC Volvo Frequency Reduction - Subcontracting main reason?

Offlate BMTC is sub contracting lots of Buses to Private Companies like Manyata Embassy, ORRCA etc resulting in the reduction of frequency for common passengers especially in the peak hours. Also, there are too many buses in some route and very little in few routes.

500c crowds thinning due to new flyovers?

This is more of a hunch, based on observation during last two weeks. But as I commute into the city from Whitefield everyday, and get to see crowded 500c buses (Vajra) at around the same time everyday at Marathalli, I get this feeling that the 500c crowds have thinned a bit.

If you want to get into a BMTC bus and get down at the next stop it costs Rs.4.

A cup of coffee or tea costs anything above Rs.8.

Auto fare is min. Rs. 20 and Metro Rs.10.

Minibus that BMTC needs for local shuttles?

Some of us think that operating local shuttles as the last mile / local connect option will help bring more people from deeper areas to the trunk routes, and thus make public transport better. However, BMTC folks don't find local shuttles to be viable. One reason given for un-viability is minibus design.

Buses to Ply on Avenue Road finally after 4 decades?

Avenue Road, Mysore Bank, India Coffee House, Subhas Book Store, Old books, Khadi Bhandar? Do these landmarks rings bell?

I sure am all the college students specilaly engineering students and old timers like Murali Sir, Me (even though much younger) would certainly can connect all these. Why is Avenue road in our dicussions?

Bhubaneswar going Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) - see RFP

They have been talking BRTS for at least 3 years now. Orissa government announced the intent earlier this year in July. This week, BDA (Bhuwaneshwar Development Authority, not our BDA) floated tenders for doing detailed technical project report for BRT for total 49 km long, 6 corridors of BRT.
