murali772 - 23-FEB-2009

Whereas the magistrate should have been pulling up the police for not charging the perpetrators of the violent incidents targeted at women under more stringent sections, it is totally shocking that he has instead chosen to direct the police to register an FIR against Ms Renuka Chowdhry, and all just for stating that "Mangalore has been Talibanised".

I bought the Booker Award winning book by Arundhati Roy in 1997, but could not complete reading it. However I did not realize this Man Booker award winning "white Tiger" by Arvind Adiga was something different. It is not just different but earth shaking.

A most compelling story

murali772 - 14-NOV-2008

silkboard - 30-AUG-2008

Once in a while, in the midst of all the raves and rants here, we should appreciate the spirit of freedom we have in our country. I read this "Facebook activists in Egypt" and imagined things.

Earlier in the year, a group of young Egyptians used Facebook to organize support for a strike by textile workers on April 6. To put it mildly, Egypt's authoritarian government did not welcome this extension of civil society into cyberspace.
