One of the problems that Bangaloreans facing is the distance to the new International Airport. Everyone talks about how far this is from City. Certainly this is a problem in the broader sense. The problem can be easily solved at least for some parts of Bangalore. Whitefield is one of the hot suburbs of Bangalore with so much IT industry focussed in that area.

A full scale runway closure is a major event, and for a runway to be closed for "maintenance" implies serious repairs. Serious repairs on a spanking new runway, at a new airport which has commenced operations less than four years ago, clearly implies something extra-ordinary.

The International Airport at Devanahalli has been operational for well over two years now. Already, there are huge developments all along the road to Devanahalli. The recent reports also suggest that air traffic has grown substantially - expansion plans of BIAL are already underway.

The state Cabinet has deferred the proposal of Siemens Ltd, a majority stakeholder in Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), to divest 40 per cent of its stake in the BIAL.

It may be recalled that Siemens Ltd had recently decided to sell 14 per cent of its share.

Why is it road users to Railway station are denied signal free comfort while the same is being given to air travelers which has only made flyovers which are never used by any bus, auto or scooters?
