Cycles on KSRTC bus!

There is a frequent question on how to take cycles on KSRTC bus. Ofcourse it is quite a task to carry cycles on express and other service bus because they need to be loaded onto the roof of the bus.

However its a breeze to put cycles into volvo bus. But a frequent question is what is the cost of transportation. Some conductors play traunt, charging bribe etc

Mid day pass, and age for senior citizen pass in BMTC

Kudos to KSRTC for age reduction - now decreased fare by 25% for senior citizens for 60 yrs from 65 earlier.

But still in BMTC daily pass is still 50 for senior citizen even after having proof.

They accept only BMTC id card. Why should we need one more card if we already have KSRTC id card /voter's id/govt id card ?

Incidents of KSRTC drivers dying of cardiac arrest and stress related problems are on the rise.  The latest one being reported on 15-Apr-2012.  As if there is a divine intervention, in all these incidents, the drivers have either stopped driving or have swapped places with the second driver in the bus, thus avoiding absolute mayhem on the roads.  What can happen to the passengers

Three southern states - Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh - own and operate 70.4 per cent of theto tal fleet of public transport that exists in the country. Maharashtra too, to some extent, shares the credit.

City Buses in PPP mode - Bhubaneswar. Why not Mysore?

Did you know that Bhubaneswar operates Buses in PPP model? They may be planning a BRT too in PPP or outsourced model (see another post for details). Any idea on population and size of Bbsr? 9 lakhs, 135 sqkm. Mysooru? Almost the same, close to 10 lakhs, 130 sqkm.

Hi All

Karnataka has seen a major development in KRSTC , BMTC and in their services.. A major investment has been made on luxury buses (Volvo, Marcopolo, Mercedes and many more) and also on the infrastructure on the bus stand, plus not to forget the GPRS services.

Online booking of tickets has helped a major commuters and mainly IT crowd.

KSRTC charges more for in-state travel - puzzling...very puzzling !!

I was booking online on KSRTC portal and observed something very peculiar..very puzzling..very disappointed

  • Bangalore to Hubli >> 416KM >> Rs.260 >> Rs. 0.625 / km
  • Bangalore to Coimbatore >> 345KM >> Rs.176 >> Rs. 0.51 / km

KSRTC is all set to start Bus Days in Mysore, they will announce firm dates and plans real soon. Their sister concern BMTC are passing all logistics related learnings from Bangalore Bus Days, and KSRTC is keen to take in input from all who care about public transport in Mysore.
