"Magic" Mistakes Done .. BBMP must think and step forward 04/08/08 07:08 - PhotoyogiFirst it was Cauvery Jn : With the narrow underpass, buses or slightly larger vehicles "are" passing through it, but the drivers have to slow down to make sure they don't damage the vehicles. There by slowing all the traffic behind. It was after this, even the BBMP seems to agree that it could have been wider. person Photoyogi's post | forum 14 Comments | Read More

I am trying to enlist here some of the best practices that I have seen/heard about City Management. Please feel free to add, edit/dissect as you may please. 1. Locality based Infrastructure Management - A la Delhi model can be adopted by empowering local Residents' associations, where available, to get Infrastructure like Roads, Parks, Water and Waste management managed and maintained on a locality basis and make engineers and other city corporation employees answerable to such associations as well as to their own management. This can lead to quick addressal of grievances and form power centres for effective infra management. In Delhi, residents' associations are headed by retired govt. employees who have plenty of time on their hands and a vision for their locality. person Bengloorappa's post | forum 11 Comments | Read More

Trucks, buses and autos without tail lights 04/07/08 18:25 - pbanavara
A simple tail light can save thousands of mishaps that occur on highways and even on city roads. Yet, most of the transport oriented vehicles including BBMP buses, trucks and autos have no tail lights. It's a horrid sore scene to see the lack of tail lights on almost all of these vehicles. They are a hazard mostly on high speed zones - such as ORR and highways. Obviously 'high speed' is a relative term used in comparison with city roads. person pbanavara's post | forum 2 Comments | Read More

BIAL Trip - reports, photos and impressions 04/06/08 10:42 - admin123
Thanks Shane et al from BIAL for the nice arrangements. We gathered at Minsk Square by 9, left for BIA at 9:35 am, reached in about 50 minutes. We were shown around till about 12:30, and were dropped back at Minsk by 1:30 pm. Unfortunately, they couldn't arrange a Vajra/Volvo for us. But all in all, the visit itself, and putting faces to many online identities was good fun! Praja visitors will be using this post to record their photos and impressions. person admin123's post | forum 115 Comments | Read More

03/31/08 05:39 - R.KrishnamoorthyBanagalore is supposed to be a cosmopolitan city, but though i have no inhibition against any language, I find it difficult to travel by Bus ,as the Name Boards are only in Kannada. Having a side by side English & Hindi Board will help all and one, Indians as well as Foreigners person R.Krishnamoorthy's post | forum 16 Comments | Read More

As Rithesh said here, Rammurthy Nagar under pass on ORR has moved jams to nearby signals. Jayadeva Circle flyover has made BTM 19th main signal and ORR/BG Road intersection area tougher to manage. Combination of Jayadeva circle and Dairy circle underpasses have made BG Road between the two points unmanageable. Flyover at silk board junction will soon stick out like a sore thumb once elevated Hosur Road is done, couple of more pillars and elevated road could have poured vehicles directly on ORR and Hosur Road.
