Hat's off to BMTC conductor and Driver of Airport route in Bangalore

srinivas.muddappa@gmail.com - 25-MAY-2011

I would like to sincerely Thank Conductor and Driver of the bus route No 9/8 Bus No. FA 1762 for their humanity and promptness in returning my bag that I forgot when I got down at Kammanahalli stop without collecting my bag which had my certificates and other valuables more than items my certificates was most important without which I would have struggled a lot.

The buzz about buses

Coinciding with the city's spectacular growth, the erstwhile Bangalore Transport Service (BTS) transformed into the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) in 1997. Since then, its fleet has increased from about 1,800 to 6,000.

Trip Number : BMTC or any city transport

Bheema.Upadhyaya - 11-MAY-2011

This is not new thing or research. But I am sure if a trip number is mentioned in display board it will help public. I propose to bmtc to include trip numbers in display boads.

Example: For bus number 378 Kengeri to Electronic City,

No bus connecvitity from Kaggadasapura, Vignana Nagar to HAL airport Road!!

I have posted this requirement in many online discussions, mailed to many concerned.

A non-stop Fast Public Transport Service on Elevated Road from Silkboard To Electronic City

dvsquare - 19-APR-2011

A few days back, I had to go to Electronics city with a friend of mine, I rarely go towards that side (Hosur Road) generally. And that was the first time, we took the Elevated Flyover over the Hosur Road. I thought of an idea/suggestion that if a BMTC mini-bus kind of vehicle can just do a to-and-fro from Start of the Flyover (near SilkBoard) and Electronics-City toll-post.

BMTC, what a pity to namma bengaluru

naveen_blr - 18-APR-2011

From The Hindu, Apr 17:

At a time when Bangaloreans are craving for more buses, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) could add only 58 new buses and 108 new routes as against the target of 1,000 buses and about 500 routes in 2010-11.

Fix the Big Circle buses

rackstar - 14-APR-2011

Recently Nayandahalli railway underbridge opened completing the ring of Bangalore ring road. But the Big circle buses still continue to ply via kengeri which will reduce its usefulness drastically. There is quantum advantage of a city ring road and that is not leveraged by BMTC. I think on the east side Big circle buses ply via Kadugodi which is again a deviation.

Impact of Bus Day in Bangalore thus far?

silkboard - 8-APR-2011

* Thanks to Bus Day, I use BMTC more often now * Bus Day made me more aware of BMTC, but thats it * I can see a visible difference in BMTC's services * Hasn't made much of a difference * I got more buses or new routes in my area

Bus Priority Concept paper from Praja - draft ready

silkboard - 22-MAR-2011

We got delayed due to unavoidable reasons, but the concept paper on Bus Priority System (BPS) for Bengaluru is now nearing completion. Find attached a draft version, look forward to comments from those familiar with BRT and related concepts. Our goal is to prepare a crisp document that would provide a picture of what BPS is and how it can be applied to our arterial routes.
